Bootcamp entrepreneur: Chris Kenworthy

Not all those attending Bootcamp are recent graduates. Chris Kenworthy graduated from the University of Leeds several years ago and has been working in the public and private sectors since. He’s convinced that self-employment is the right career move.

Since leaving his last job, he’s been helping charities in Leeds and Harrogate to get news about their activities on their websites and into the blogosphere. He’s been working until now on a voluntary basis to test the idea, but hopes Bootcamp will help him turn it into a viable business. By combining photography, copywriting and social media skills, he aims to offer a one-stop service that’s affordable for small charities.

“I’ve been so busy doing the actual work, I haven’t had time to do the strategic thinking and to fully research the market,” says Chris. “I’m hoping Bootcamp will help me with some of the practicalities of running a business and help me to structure things properly. Part of the aim of my business is to give something back, so I’m interested in finding out more about setting it up as a social enterprise.

“Bootcamp will be a good opportunity to network and build confidence in my idea by talking it over with the experts. And I’m interested in hearing from other entrepreneurs – those who’ve taken the plunge and have made it work.”
